Shellac flakes for traditional wood restoration
Borma Wachs Shellac Flakes are used to prepare traditional shellac finishes for furniture, fine joinery, musical instruments and decorative wooden objects. The flakes are dissolved in a compatible solvent before application, allowing the concentration to be adjusted to the restoration method, wood absorption and desired appearance.
Applications
Shellac is particularly suitable when a classic interior finish with warmth, gloss and visual depth is required. It can be used for furniture, frames, carved elements, musical instruments and other interior woodwork. Always make a test sample, especially on light or valuable wood, because the final colour depends on the wood species, existing coatings and solution concentration.
Preparation
The surface must be dry, stable and clean. Remove dust, grease, silicone residues, wax and poorly adhering old finishes. Dissolve the flakes in a clean container using the compatible solvent, ratio and preparation time specified for the selected shellac system. Filter the prepared solution when required by the application method.
Application
Apply thin, even coats with a brush, pad or other tool suitable for the chosen finishing technique. Allow every coat to dry before applying the next one. Build the finish gradually rather than applying thick layers. Inspect the dried surface under side lighting and make local corrections only after checking compatibility.
